The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration offers a rebate program to Overseas Filipino Workers OWWA members for 10 years or more under the OWWA Act or Republic Act 10801. The OFWs who have not benefited from any program of the agency can check the full details of the rebate here.
OWWA Rebate Program
The OWWA protects and works for the welfare of Overseas Filipino workers and their dependents. For the welfare of the OFWs, the agency offers the OWWA rebate program to the OFWs who are or have been an OWWA active member for at least a decade and have not availed any benefit or service from the agency, such as:
- Death and Burial Benefits
- Scholarship Programs (EDSP, ODSP, ELAP)
- Balik Pinas! Back To work! Program
- MedPlus
- Disability/ Dismemberment Benefits
- Enterprise Development & Loan Program
- Short-Term Upgrading/ Training Courses (SUP for seafarers, SESP, Dugtong Aral)
- Welfare Assistance Programs (Calamity, Medical & Relief Assistance, Bereavement)
Under the rebate program, the agency offers a portion of contributions that members make to the agency, hence, it is not a refund or cashback of the member’s contribution. The rebate is a way to give benefits to the members who have been loyal members of the agency for years without availing of any service or benefit.
The OFWs working in another country can donate the rebate amount to the education of underprivileged OFWs through donation at Tuloy Aral Project.
OWWA Rebate Program Eligibility Criteria
Overseas Filipino Workers who meet the following eligibility requirements can participate in the OWWA rebate program:
- The workers who have been active members of the agency for a minimum of 10 years or more until the cut-off period, 31 December 2017.
- The OFWs or their dependents or other family members must have never availed of any service or program of the OWWA program.
- The members who have paid five or more membership contributions to the OWWA till 31 Dec 2017.
- The legal beneficiary of the deceased OFWs who are qualified for the rebate program can receive the OWWA rebate program benefit.
OWWA Rebate Program Amount
As we have mentioned earlier, the OWWA rebate program is not a refund or cashback of the membership contribution, it is a portion of the contribution. So, the OFWs who qualify for the rebate program will receive the amount based on their number of contributions, which can range from Php 941,25 to Php 13,177.50.
The OWWA members made a membership contribution worth $25, which is valid for two years, that’s why the minimum contribution required for the rebate program is five contributions. The eligible members can check their rebate amount in the following table based on their number of OWWA membership contributions:

Documents Required for the OWWA Rebate Program
The OFWs who qualify for the rebate program will need to present the following documents during the appointment:
- Appointment Code received after application submission
- OWWA e-card
- Valid Bank account to deposit rebate
- Valid Government ID ( such as Passport, NBI clearance, Driver’s License, Company ID, etc.)
If a family member of the qualifies OFW applying for the rebate, they should prepare the following documents to present to the OWWA regional welfare office or provisional distribution center:
When the qualified OFW is abroad:
- Appointment code
- 1 valid government ID
- Authorization Letter from OFW with his signature or thumb mark
- Your relationship proof with the OFW like birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.
When the qualified OFW has some serious illness:
- Appointment Code
- Medical Certificate of the Overseas Filipino Workers who qualified for the rebate program
- OFW valid ID proof and the authorized representative
- Your proof of relationship with the qualified OFW
If the OFW is dead:
- Appointment Code
- OFW Death Certificate
- OFW valid ID proof and the authorized representative
- Your relationship proof with the OFW like birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc
How to claim the OWWA Rebate Program?
The OFWs who fulfill the eligibility requirements for the OWWA rebate program can claim the rebate in the following steps through the OWWA Rebate portal:
- First, you should visit the OWWA website or rebate portal at http://rebate.owwa.gov.ph/
- Next, you should enter the details in the rebate Verification form and click on Inquire to review your information.
- Next, the amount of the rebate will be shown on your screen based on the eligibility and number of contributions.
- Next, you should make an appointment at your nearest OWWA Regional Welfare Office to verify the supporting documents for the application.
- After you schedule the appointment at the regional office, you will receive a text containing the appointment code on your registered mobile number.
The OFW members who are employed in another country can use the rebate claim to renew their OWWA membership.
When can you get the OWWA rebate?
The OFWs who have applied for the OWWA rebate program and scheduled the appointment at the regional OWWA welfare office need to present the supporting documents along with the appointment code and bank account details where they wish to receive their money.
After the verification and approval, the OWWA rebate applicants can expect the rebate amount in their bank account in one business day. The appointment of the OWWA rebate program will begin in September, interested OFWs should check the official website and apply for the rebate to receive their rebate timely.
